This is not a layout as such but more of a technology demonstrator.
The whole layout is controlled via MERG electronics and these are all positioned above the baseboard so they can be seen and explained.
The basics of the layout are that it is an automated shuttle type layout, where the locos are moved from end to end automatically by timed events. On the way the electronics monitor the progress and decide which route things will take.
MERG stands for Model Electronic Railway Group and is an international group of model railway and electronics enthusiasts. The electronics are designed by members of the group and can be obtained only from the groups shop which is available only to members.
